How to Embed a Widget in ClickUp

ClickUp offers two powerful ways to embed external content: the Embed view (a dedicated tab on any list or folder) and ClickUp Docs embed blocks. Both accept URLs and render your Embeddy widget live and interactive — no code required.

Prerequisites

Before embedding, make sure you have the following ready:

  • An Embeddy widget: Create one for free at embeddy.ai/dashboard. Your widget must be published (not in draft mode) so it is publicly accessible.
  • Your Embed Link: In the Embeddy dashboard, open your widget and copy the Embed Link — the direct URL that looks like https://embeddy.ai/webhost/WIDGET_ID?widget_props_id=PROPS_ID.
  • A ClickUp workspace: The Embed view is available on all ClickUp plans. ClickUp Docs embeds are also available on all plans.

Where is my Embed Link? In the Embeddy dashboard, select your widget, click the Share / Embed panel, and look for the Embed Link option. It is the direct URL — not the <iframe> snippet.

Method 1: Embed View

Recommended — full-tab embed alongside your tasks

The Embed view adds a dedicated tab to any ClickUp list, folder, or Space that displays an external URL full-width. It is the best option for dashboards, reports, or tools that your team needs quick access to alongside their tasks.

  1. 1

Navigate to a List, Folder, or Space

Open the ClickUp location where you want to add the embedded widget as a view tab.

  2. 2

Click + View and select Embed

In the view bar at the top, click the + button (or Add View). Scroll down to find Embed and select it.

  3. 3

    Paste your Embeddy widget URL

A URL input field appears. Paste your Embed Link:

    https://embeddy.ai/webhost/WIDGET_ID?widget_props_id=PROPS_ID
  4. 4

    Click "Add View" or "Save"

ClickUp creates a new tab with your widget embedded full-width. The tab appears alongside your other views (List, Board, Calendar, etc.) and is accessible to all workspace members.

  5. 5

    Rename the view (optional)

Right-click the new view tab and rename it to something descriptive like "Widget Dashboard" or your widget's name.

Tip: You can add multiple Embed views to the same list or folder. Each one becomes its own tab displaying a different URL — useful for teams that use several Embeddy widgets.

Method 2: ClickUp Docs Embed

Alternative — embed inline in a ClickUp Doc

ClickUp Docs support rich embeds via the /embed slash command. This is ideal for embedding widgets inside documentation, wikis, or project notes.

  1. 1

    Open a ClickUp Doc

Create a new Doc or open an existing one in your ClickUp workspace.

  2. 2

    Type /embed

The slash command menu appears. Select Embed from the list.

  3. 3

    Paste your Embeddy widget URL

Paste your Embed Link in the input field and press Enter:

    https://embeddy.ai/webhost/WIDGET_ID?widget_props_id=PROPS_ID
  4. 4

    Confirm the embed renders

ClickUp renders the widget inline in the Doc. It appears as a live, interactive block alongside your text content.

Note: You can also paste a URL directly into a ClickUp Doc on an empty line. ClickUp will often prompt you to choose between a link, bookmark, or embed — select Embed.

Resizing & Layout

ClickUp provides different sizing controls depending on the method you use.

Embed View

The Embed view automatically fills the entire content area. It resizes with the browser window. There are no manual resize handles — the widget gets the full available space.

Docs Embed Block

In ClickUp Docs, click the embed to select it. Drag handles appear on the edges for resizing width and height. You can also use the block menu to set the embed to full-width.

Dashboard widgets: If you use ClickUp Dashboards, you can also add an Embed widget card to display your Embeddy widget alongside ClickUp's native dashboard charts and metrics.

Limitations

ClickUp embeds work well in most scenarios, with a few constraints:

Embed view is read-only for guests

Workspace guests can view the embedded content but cannot edit the Embed view settings (URL, name). Only workspace members with appropriate permissions can add or modify Embed views.

Login-required widgets

ClickUp cannot pass authentication cookies to embedded iframes. If your Embeddy widget requires login to view, it will fail to load. Set visibility to Public in the Embeddy dashboard.

Mobile app behavior

Embeds may render differently in the ClickUp mobile app. The Embed view is not always available on mobile — the widget may open in an external browser instead of rendering inline. Test on mobile if your team relies on it.

X-Frame-Options headers

Some websites set headers that prevent embedding. Embeddy widget URLs do not block framing, so this does not apply to Embeddy widgets — but it explains why some other URLs may fail in ClickUp's Embed view.

Troubleshooting

Embed view shows a blank page

This is the most common issue. Check the following:

  • Widget is published. Draft widgets are not accessible at the embed URL.
  • Widget is set to Public. Login-required widgets cannot load inside ClickUp's iframe.
  • URL is correct. Copy the Embed Link fresh from the Embeddy dashboard.

"Embed" option not showing in the + View menu

The Embed view is available on all ClickUp plans. If you do not see it, scroll down in the view menu — it may be listed under "More Views" or in a sub-section. Also confirm you have edit permissions on the list or folder.

Widget loads but is not interactive

If the widget displays but buttons/forms do not respond, try opening the same Embed Link in a new browser tab to verify it works outside of ClickUp. If it works in a tab but not in ClickUp, the widget may require features that ClickUp's iframe sandbox restricts (e.g., popups, downloads).

FAQ

Does the Embed view work on ClickUp's free plan?

Yes. The Embed view is available on all ClickUp plans including the Free Forever plan.

Can I embed a widget inside a ClickUp task description?

Task descriptions support rich text but have limited embed support compared to ClickUp Docs. For the best inline embed experience, use a ClickUp Doc. For a full-tab experience, use the Embed view on the list or folder.

Will the widget update automatically if I change it in Embeddy?

Yes. ClickUp loads the live URL each time the Embed view or Doc is opened. Changes in the Embeddy dashboard are reflected instantly — no need to update any links.

Ready to embed your widget?

Head to your Embeddy dashboard to create or find your widget, copy the Embed Link, and add it to any ClickUp list, folder, or Doc.
